About Our HR Licence Training Course

What is the process of getting a heavy rigid (HR) truck licence

  • You are given a log book at the start of your training
  • We put you through the CBT (competency based training) course as directed by the South Australia government

What is competency based training (CBT)?

  • A training guide will assist you and structure the training to your individual needs.
  • Your assessments will be conducted in steps to the point in which you have reached the government standard for heavy rigid truck licensing.
  • Your HR truck training instructor will award you with a certificate of competency for your HR truck licence.
  • Show this certificate and your current drivers licence at a ServiceSA branch and you will be able to apply for your HR truck licence

What can I drive with a Heavy Rigid (HR) Truck Licence

  • A motor vehicle authorised to be driven by a licence of a preceding class
  • A motor vehicle (other than an articulated motor vehicle or a special purpose vehicle) with three or more axles and a GVM greater than 8 tonne
  • A motor vehicle included above towing a single trailer (other than a semi-trailer) with a GVM not greater than 9 tonne, subject to the combination mass limits fixed under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (South Australia)
  • An articulated bus with three or more axles and a GVM greater than 8 tonne
  • A special purpose vehicle with three or more axles and a GVM greater than 15 tonne

May tow: Any farm implement. Any trailer with a GVM not exceeding 9 tonne provided it is within the GCM of the towing vehicle.

Requirements

Must have held a car licence for at least two years or a class LR or MR for at least one year.

Terms and Conditions

  • Cancelling with less than 3 days (72 hours) clear notice during office hours will result in deposits being retained.
  • If more than 72 hours notice given, the deposit less administration and booking fees will be refunded.
  • Late fees may apply
